The short answer: Report deceptive solar sales to the Federal Trade Commission at ReportFraud.ftc.gov and to your state Attorney General. Report solar loan problems to the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau at the CFPB complaint portal. Contractor and licensing problems go to your state’s licensing agency, such as Texas’s TDLR or California’s Contractors State License Board. A complaint creates a record but doesn’t cancel your contract or pause deadlines.
| Your problem | Where to file |
|---|---|
| Deceptive sales, fake affiliations, missing cancellation notices | FTC and your state Attorney General |
| Loan terms, dealer fees, payment jumps | Consumer Financial Protection Bureau |
| Contractor licensing or workmanship | Your state’s contractor or solar licensing agency |
| Utility billing | Your state utility commission |

Solar Cancellation HQ is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. This page is general information, and reading it or submitting a form does not create an attorney-client relationship. Not every contract qualifies, and no outcome is guaranteed. We never advise anyone to stop making payments on a solar loan, lease or PPA. Laws and utility rules change, so verify before acting.
